Feel like you're in Italy with Pugnuts Ice Cream & Gelato in Surry!

If you want to visit Italy, come to Surry, Maine! In all seriousness, the owners of Pugnuts Ice Cream & Gelato did study how to make authentic gelato in Italy. And full disclosure, they hosted our Far & Away, Maine pop-up shop in 2024 all summer long. However, this shop was on our list far earlier than we had even connected with the owners.

Pugnuts is our go-to spot for family outings (that works well as a bribe, "How about we do this hike and then go to Pugnuts, kids?"), weekend guests, and is just a nice cool sweet treat when there is nothing else on our schedule. We also have ordered their ice cream cakes, which look like something only a cake designer could pull off, and they taste even better than they look (assuming that is even possible). Trust us, people come long and far for their delicious ice cream, gelato, and sorbet! 

What we love about Pugnuts:

• A whimsical atmosphere one would expect from a shop with "Pugnuts" in the name!
• They have the best staff who knows how to treat a customer right.
• It's a short walk to the Town of Surry Wharf, which is a fabulous spot to watch the wildlife and enjoy your home-made waffle cone.
